Shred

One day i went into the city to visit my mother for lunch and afterwards I had some errands to run. As i was walking I started to notice how run down everything was. Paint rusting, blistering, peeling away from its surface, and what really made me laugh was that i thought it was beautiful. Hence, these paintings...

These works were very labour intensive and made me think a lot about the value of labour in art. The time spent layering paint and then tearing it off again is uncountable. Every spare second i had i was trying to ruin my painting, and in the end they became so complex it was hard to see the beauty of them. Sometimes I feel as though the photographs are a better documentation of the concept.
