Edges
The 'Edges' series has been an interesting journey for me as an artist. This body of work was born out of the process of my 'Shred' series. After spending hours in my studio layering paint I started to notice that the edges of the boards that I was covering were really interesting documenting my process. I really enjoyed the tension that this created in the work. The front of the painting stayed a minimal block of colour while the sides were the interesting parts.... These images are of a few install experiments.

Edges installation - Graduate Exhibition

This was a really hard install. I wanted the colour combinations to be just as discordant as how I applied the colour to the paintings. I also wanted the whole body of work to act really formally to really tighten that tension visible in the work. It was interesting to the 'double takes' at the exhibition as people looked and then looked again to come closer and see the edges of the paintings. I feel like the work was really successful as each piece worked really well individually and just as great as a whole installation.
