Plastic Agate

I'm really into natural structures like rocks, minerals, gems and crystals. I love how old they are like they have been growing for centuries and seen the word evolve. I'm amazed at the patterns and colours that appear in these precious stones and how organic they are in nature. I have researched so much about these fascinating forms and find myself making work that reflects this study.

I call these works 'Plastic Agate' because that was my inspiration. Agate is a beautiful colourful mineral resembling the patterns of inside a tree.

Printed Paint

These are the beginning experiments for my new series of work. I have taken the patterns that you see in my paint skins and changed them so I am now screen printing them. I like the transition that the pattern has gone from such an organic painting process to a refined drawing and then a screen print which is so formal. I can't wait to see what comes out of these works.
